  • So much to do...

.....and I can't be bothered! I guess I do have an excuse for taking it easy today. It's been pretty tough at work and Monday/Tuesday aren't going to be good either as we announce the redundancies. But I just have to get through those 2 days and then I'm off.

Did manage to go and sort out my currency, etc today - so will be able to pick them up on Wednesday. House isn't too untidy as cleaned it properly last weekend. Have done the washing and pulled out all my summer clothes. Need to decide which ones I'll be taking with me. Even though the weather is still pretty mild, it seems strange that next week I'll be in summer gear once again! :)

I do have 3 practice email tarot readings to do. Can't get head into gear so will procrastinate and leave them until tomorrow. Also need to do some research work - helping organise a group outing for the winter solstice at Stonehenge. Again, think I'll leave that until tomorrow.....

Must go and take the washing out of the machine - definately can't leave that until tomorrow........

  • It's nearly time

Apologies I haven't been around much. As mentioned before work has been a bit hectic. Good news is next week I'm off to visit my Mum in South Africa. Can't wait until Tuesday 17:30hrs - I will be walking out the office knowing I wont be back until the 18th!!! :D

  • Good Start...

What a good start I had to the week. This morning I rolled out of bed, washed, got dressed and trundled off to work. Felt a little grumpy that it was still dark outside. Arrived in London and as walking to work realised my shoes did not match!!!!

Luckily they were both black and flat; and luckily too that I was wearing trousers that were a bit long. Can't believe it!!! Didn't have too many meetings today so was able to hide my feet away under the desk. Normally I walk quite quickly but today I was definately speedier. Gave no one the opportunity to spot the odd shoes. Managed to get away with it. Phew!

Other than that, the day wasn't too bad. :))

  • The Fool

When I first started Tarot, I bought the book “Seventy Eight Degrees of Wisdom” by Rachel Pollack. At the time I rushed through the book because I was more interested in reading up on the keywords for each of the cards. I soon worked out that it was the wrong book if you wanted to delve superficially into the Tarot. Almost a year down the line, I've picked up the book again.

As I read what she wrote about the Fool, the following sentence really got me thinking: “To society the way of the Fool, instinct rather than rules, is a dangerous insanity.” Surely we need a balance of both? And, surely both are equally as valid?

I do like the Fool and think it has an important lesson for all of us. It encourages us to be free and totally open to life, to have faith in living and in our own instinct.

“And yet, for those willing to take the chance, the leap can bring joy, adventure, and finally, for those with the courage to keep going when the wonderful becomes more fearsome than joyous, the leap can bring knowledge, peace, and liberation.” - Rachel Pollack

  • Shine Brightly!

With the nights drawing in and the days become shorter, I always find that this time of year is a time of reflection - of looking deep inside. The danger with this is it is too easy to get overwhelmed by our imperfections. Well, at least that's the danger for me!! :)

I keep the following quote by Marianne Williamson in my purse and today thought it was an appropriate time to remind myself of my own power and therefore to keep on shining brightly!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us."

Whether or not you believe in "God", I think the above still holds true. So let us all shine our light!!!

  • Confession Time

Time can play little tricks on the mind. One year rolls into the other and each year seems to go more quickly than the previous.

In a couple of weeks I'm flying to the land of my birth to see my dear mother. The last time I was "home" was in 1997 - 12 years ago - when I had to rush back as my dad had an accident which ended up taking his life. When I mention that that was the last time I was there, I always quickly add that I have seen my mother since then as she has popped over a number of times to London. This morning I worked out that actually, the last time I saw my mother was in 2001 - 8 years ago!! Not quite the 3/4 years I thought. Where has the time gone???? :??:

I am looking forward to my trip. I know the next 2 weeks are going to fly by as things are very hectic at work. Roll on November!!

  • Tired

Missed my tarot class tonight, which should say something. Been feeling pretty tired. There are more restructurings planned at work which will involve redundancies. There's a lot of prep I need to do before the big announcements. Really do hate this part of my job.

  • Autumn Evening

I've said before how I love the autumn. Tonight on the way home, there was one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen for a very long time. Really wished I had a camera to catch up the gorgeous colours. But didn't and my phone's battery was kaput so couldn't even use that! It's also times like this I wish I was more poetic and descriptive in my writing!!

Hope wherever you are this evening, you had a gorgeous sunset too!

  • Only in Glastonbury!

My weekend in Glastonbury was great. Didn't have much time to shop - just as well - as the course was pretty full on.

It's actually hard to describe what happened on the Shamanic Journey weekend -think I'm still processing it all! The course tutors were brilliant and so were all the other delegates. Got to play my drum which was great :D Got back fairly late on Sunday so still a bit tired as work has been full on.

Glastonbury is normally full of all that is weird and wonderful, but this is the first time I visited when there was other things going on in town. There was a faery ball on Saturday night so the town was full of faeries!! Some people went to a lot of effort and looked absolutely stunning. Only in Glastonbury....

  • Typical Working Week

Isn't it great that it's Friday??!! Thought this Snoopy cartoon really captured the working week!

    snoopy

I'm off to Glastonbury tomorrow morning early for my weekend course. Have a great weekend and I'll catch up on your blogs Sunday evening.
